Taking care of the refuge

Detour during road repair
Cutting fallen trees
Lee graveling trails

A lot of hard work goes into taking care of the refuge. Currently much of the work is organized and done by Lee and Melinda Varian, Clark Lennon, David Padulo, and Winnie Spar. The work includes anything from chainsawing fallen trees to putting up birdhouses. It also includes mapmaking, maintaining the kiosk and log, running the Rogersrefuge listserve, contacting the Princeton public works when the pump is broken, blazing and marking trails, and spraying the phragmites to keep them under control. The work is never done and new volunteers are always welcome.
